HIYA! I'm Darianne, a sunflower dancing in the meadows. I'm also an English and Italian major with minors in art history and publishing. I'm not quite sure what I want to do with my degree. I do know that I want to get my PhD in Dante or Medieval and Italian literature. I'm currently addicted to coffee and articulating my being. I'm forever obsessing over music, tropical places , animals, mother nature, sweater weather, and Christmas. When my face isn't in a book or obsessing over many other things, I come here to create, dress up, express, and hopefully inspire.

  1. Who are your fashion icons?

    • Harry Styles and David Gandy are two of my male fashion icons. Between Harry’s street style and flamboyant designer suits, the "No f*cks given" rule stands strong. David has this class, tailored look that goes from business to the street of wherever and it’s always an instant classic look.

    • Female style icons include Julia Roberts, Alexa Chung, Liv Tyler, Rachel from FRIENDS, Drew Barrymore, Bella Hadid, etc.

    • My inspiration for clothing constantly changes because I am so moody.

  2. What/who inspired you to blog?

    • When I started blogging, Mali-Koa Hood had a blog where she talked about being in her twenties. I thought about how therapeutic it had to be to write it all out. Plus, she did some inspiring stuff like packing up and moving to London. GOALS. That was the first stage of what is now this blog. I wrote about my life, NYC, my dreams, my adventures, who and what I wanted to be, etc. I never thought I'd end up here because I am terrible at sticking to things for a long time, but here I am four years later.

  3. What are some things you must have in your wardrobe?

    • A faux leather jacket is always a must.

    • Ankle booties because they are my shoe of choice.

    • There's also the boyfriend/mom jeans and those jeans that hug the body just right.

  4. what made you add a section for books?

    • Before relaunching this blog, I was running two separate blogs. One was for fashion and lifestyle. The other was for academia, books, and anything literature related. I decided to combine the two and share my love for it all. Who says a person can't be cute, smart, and well read.

  5. What made you want to study English Literature?

    • Books are one of the things that make the word go round. Imagine growing up being obsessed with bands, saving the planet, animals, and wanting to travel the world while living your best life, but not being able to. I wanted to see the world. Instead I entered different worlds. Books took me flying through galaxies, centuries, romances, and adventures. There were new species and the worlds were colorful. I was having an adventure while I read. I also didn't know that I could be a heroine as a kid. I became the heroine in the books like Hermione Granger and Feyre.

    • There's also my love for writing. I always had a notebook when I was a kid where I would write. In the past year I finished a journal which lasted three years. This year I bought a new journal with a lion embroidered on the cover. I write poetry in this journal and secrets and hopes and dreams. Books and writing have always gone hand-in-hand for me.

  6. What made you want to have two majors and two minors?

    • I don't know what came over me. The sky has never been the limit. I was given the opportunity to study four things at once and I took it. Luckily for me, all four fields relate in one way or another. It's definitely less stressful, but still very stressful.

  7. What do you want to do with your degree?

    • As I said before, my hope is to one day get my PhD. I want to study Dante and I want to study Medieval and Italian literature. I also want to work in a museum and I may even go into publishing. There isn’t a limit. Possibilities are endless. I want to be a professor someday as well. For now, I don't know what I want to do with it. A degree in English is a gateway to anything.

  8. Who are your favorite authors? what do you read the most?

    • I really don't have a favorite. There are books/series I just so happen to always reread. Oscar Wilde, Dostoevsky, and Alan Furst are a few authors that I love. I’m really open to books. If it sounds good, I’ll give it a read.

    • Lately I find myself reading dissertations and academic essays and articles. I find them very interesting. People spend a very long time researching and backing up what they think. Someday I will be writing my dissertation and publishing essays and articles. For now, reading about other people’s opinions and their arguments about why has been very interesting to me.

If you have any other questions beside these questions, you can contact me here or on any of my social media platform.

This is the rebirth of what was formerly Grimball by Darianne. I hope you enjoy what you see and come back when ever you'd like. ¡Besitos!
